The Art & Craft
of
Posing Problems & Making Conjectures

Expanding Teachers' and Students' Mathematical 'Habits of Mind'

This archive has two primary goals -

            - to help teachers think deeply about aspects of mathematics that they know and are expected to teach, and

            - to (re)awaken teachers' own intellectual curiosity and mathematical creativity

My perspective...

I believe that the essence of ...

...teaching is posing a provocative & engaging next question at the proper moment

...mathematics is making, exploring, proving & disproving conjectures

and I take it to heart when Georg Cantor says

"In mathematics, the art of proposing a question must be held of higher value than solving it"
